Curtis Alexander Nelson (born 21 May 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Plymouth Argyle.
Nelson spent seven years with Stoke City as an apprentice before being released in February 2009. He joined Plymouth Argyle two months later.[2] His performances in the 2009–10 season for the youth team and reserves, in both defence and midfield, earned him a place in the first team squad for the club's final match of the campaign against Peterborough United.[3] Nelson trained with the first team during throughout their 2010–11 pre-season and impressed manager Peter Reid. "I was very impressed with young Curtis," said Reid. "I like young players and he will be training with us all the time now. He played centre-back last year but he can play midfield as well."[4] He made his first team debut on 10 August 2010 in the League Cup against Notts County,[5] replacing Anton Peterlin as a second-half substitute.
On 28 March 2011 Nelson was called up into the England U18 squad for a friendly against Italy, in Carpi, on 12 April 2011. Nelson was the only player in the squad from a club outside the Premier League and Championship, but was the most experienced in terms of first team appearances..[6]
